Create, Reflect, and Forgive: Let’s Open Space For Something New

Updated: Oct 2

October is the perfect month to release what no longer serves us, and reconnect to our divinity. This allows us to open space for a new beginning, a new joy, bringing balance into our experience.

Consciously or unconsciously, we are always creating the reality we encounter!

There is magic in this month!  With September behind us, we are able to slow down and transition into the new season. We are able to experience the beauty displayed all around us, as the leaves slowly start to change color, gently reminding us that changes are a part of life. It is important to just go with the flow of nature, and enjoy the fresh and crisp air we are breathing-that breath of life that keeps us connected to this physical reality.

October, for me, is a time to create, not with my hands but with my heart.  At times, this means reaching out to a loved one that I have not talked to in a while. Sometimes, it means that it’s time to let go of that painful old memory, you know- the familiar one that just keeps surfacing. Other times it means choosing forgiveness instead of holding on to that old grudge.

Years ago, I chose to forgive my father, not because it was easy, but because I was ready to heal and let go of my suffering.  I stopped waiting for a perfect apology, and instead chose to free my heart from the weight of resentment. By forgiving my father, I made space for peace, love, and a renewed relationship free from hurt or blame. I chose to see my father differently, not as the man who left me when I needed him the most, but as the man who gave me something far more beautiful and greater: LIFE. That simple act of gratitude changed everything for me.  Now, when I visit my father, I intentionally give him a big, long hug and I thank him for bringing me into this world and for accepting to become my father. This small, but courageous step has blessed us with years of mutual love that we would have otherwise been deprived of.

When you choose forgiveness, it might be difficult, because it is easier to be upset and have someone to blame for past mistakes. The reality is, people can grow and change to become better, and free of resentment.  It may be hard at times, but put your ego aside.  Choosing to forgive is what I needed to do in order to grow and move beyond what was holding me back from the divine healing of my soul.

This October, I invite you to get creative with your forgiveness, your healing, and your connection to your heart and soul. I invite you to reflect on a couple things.

  • Who do I want to forgive?

  • Is there anything that happened in the past that I need to let go of?

  • Do I want to find someone to blame, or can I release this negativity and balance my energy?

  • Do I always need to be right? Does it really matter?

Ask yourself: Is there an area of your life that is urging you to connect with it?  Make space to give it attention, to take the next step for the purpose of healing.

Enjoy October,

Nancy J
