Roots, Cicadas, and Reaching the Finish Line

Breathing a Sigh of Relief, Connecting to Nature and In Love With Life

There are many things that can be special…sharing a meal, joining in a laughter with family and friends, a dolphin watching, seeing not one, but a double rainbow breaking through the storm as well as experiencing an unexpected sunset in the midst of it all.

After countless hours of researching, learning, analyzing data and writing, I have

officially completed and submitted my dissertation in Conscious Business Ethics with a Focus on Health and Nutrition. Completing my Ph.D. journey was challenging to say the least, but it reminded me of how powerful it is to pour your energy and passion into something that educates you and expands your consciousness.

If you were one of the anonymous participants who completed my questionnaire, thank you for helping me to reach my goal.  If interested, take a look at the results by clicking here!

Openly and honestly, I want to share that you are never too old and it’s never too late to learn something new, intentionally setting aside time from your busy life to work on your personal goals. My advice: Be present and enjoy the journey. Each step contributes to what your soul needs to grow and evolve.

I hope that whatever you are working on right now fills your being with curiosity, purpose and motivation. Know that you can accomplish your goals and have a burning desire to start something that you have been putting off. Dare to take the first step towards it!

This August has been extremely busy and exciting at the same time. Our traveling has extended and we found ourselves spending time in Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, and Tybee Island in Georgia. Months earlier, Mike, had coordinated with two of his friends and their families to meet at Tybee Island. Spending quality time with friends and my family, finishing my course work, and Mike and I celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary allowed me to connect to nature and feel grateful for each moment that I was experiencing. Soaking up the sun and enjoying the warm waters of the South was just what I needed. I thank my husband, Mike for planning and coordinating our trips. Tybee Island is a magical place where we were intertwined with the island vibe.

As I sit outside listening to the rhythm of the day, the buzzing cicada, las chicharras, I am instantly carried back home to the Dominican Republic and the days of my childhood.  It’s incredible how a single sound can bridge where you are with where you came from.  It’s a sweet reminder that no matter where life takes us, our roots travel with us. Certain comforts never grow old…

I’d love to hear from you:

What are you working on or feeling passionate about this August?  What simple comforts are calling you right now? Drop a comment below and share a piece of your summer with me!

Sending you all a big hug from Tybee Island, Georgia.

With Love and Gratitude,

Nancy J.
